Where do you call home?

Beaverton, Oregon

How many kids do you have?

I have 4 kids.  Twins who are almost 8 years old, a 4 year old and a 1 year old.

What was one of the hardest changes for you physically during your postpartum journey?

Losing my hair was so hard for me. I’ve always had really long and beautiful hair and when I started to lose it, I started to feel unattractive.

What was one of the hardest changes for you mentally/emotionally during your postpartum journey?

Dealing with postpartum depression while in denial. I didn’t want to believe I had postpartum depression because I felt as if it made me weak. It wasn’t until I started to seek help that I found out I was strong and it takes more to ask for help then to avoid it.

What surprised you most about the postpartum time?

How fast my babies grew.

What has been your greatest joy in motherhood?

Seeing my daughters enjoy life. Seeing their faces when they’re accomplished something.

How was your postpartum experience different with each baby?

My first two pregnancies, with my first three kids, I was a stay at home mom so I had them all day every. With my last baby I was a working mom so I had three months and then I had to leave her for 10-17 hours a day. It makes a huge difference in the bond.

What is one resource that felt invaluable to you during the postpartum time?

My husband, he was/is my rock. He helped me and supported me.

What is one piece of advice you would like to give to pregnant moms in preparation for their postpartum journey?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Every mom needs break. You have to take care of yourself so you can take care of your sweet baby.
